Key Terms from the Economist Article

Phrenology: Greek roots phren= mind, ology= study of  (logos= knowledge). It was a pseudoscience based around measuring the size of one's head to determine brain size and capacity.  It entailed mapping characteristics onto the head/mind based on the size and shape of one's head.

Eugenics: Field of science that advocates for the use of practices aimed at improving the genetic composition of a population by promoting the reproduction of more desired people and traits and the reduction of reproduction of less desired people and traits (through segregation, forced abortions, sterilization, etc...)
